Walks around the Teifi Valley Cardigan Bay Coastal Paths & Preseli Hills

Cardigan and its surrounding countryside is an unspoilet and largely undiscovered area of outstanding natural beauty.
There are dramatic cliff-top paths with views of extraordinary rock formations and stunning wildlife, tranquil walks in deeply wooded valleys and challenging climbs in the Preseli hills.

The walks explore these main areas:

Teifi Valley

This is an area of great beauty and variety with several outstanding features including:

  • The dramatic grandeur of Cilgerran gorge with its imposing castle ruins.
  • The award-winning Wildlife Centre, where otters and red kites can be seen.
  • Cenarth Falls, with its Coracle Museum and breathtaking riverside walk.
  • The beautiful Teifi estuary with the wide open beach of Poppit Sands and rugged cliffs of Cardigan Island.
  • Coastal Paths

To the south, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is famous for its unique views, rock formations and seals, whilst to the north there is a lesser known but equally beautiful Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coastline and Cerdigion Coast Path. Coastal walks in this area afford the chance to see regular sightings of dolphins, the picturesque Mwnt church and the dramatic cliff paths at Llangrannog.

    Preseli Hills

Home of the famous Preseli Bluestones used for Stonehenge with its open moorland, Neolithic monuments and sweeping sea views this area is a serious walker's paradise.
